Intellectual Property (2011)

Images in this project are derived from copyrighted DVDs of mainstream films. The titles are selected for their irony and not for any relation to the plot or narrative content of the films. Video has been extracted using various software and then re-compressed. The images are a result of copyright encryption and the extraction process. Stills are then isolated and screen grabs are taken of the video frames.

There are two modes for exhibition; digital stills displayed on LCD panels or as framed, archival print editions.
The images are printed using an inkjet process on Hanemuhle Photo Rag paper with Ultrachrome archival inks in sets of five, editions of six each with two artists proofs @ 22" x 34". "Disfigured" and "Geometric" can be shown individually or in any combination.
